Some History The original HP RAID controller that is, sometimes refer to as the NetRAID 0,
was the HPDA PCI or EISA(rebranded Mylex DAC960PL) RAID controller C3609A and C3610A. This one had REAL problems
and is probably the one that causes most of our problems. The Mylex controller is the only HP RAID controller that
requires all drives be the same size, exactly or they will not work. And it may not recognize non-HP drives.
We suggest upgrading/replacing the controller with at least a D4943A available here for a reasonable price.
"...HP supports the use of the 18GB 10K RPM hard disk drives
to replace defective 4GB and 9GB hard disk drives, except for array
configurations based on the original HP Disk Array Controllers (HP Mylex DAC
Product numbers C3609A and C3610A)."

The next
controller by age is the NetRAID and NetRAID-1 controllers (part number
4992-60002 1-Channel Controller and D4943-60002 3-Channel PCI version with newer
BIOS 04.03 ) UltraWide2 SCSI (rebranded AMI RAID). These solved the issues of
the first Mylex controler and if you have one, just make sure you have the
latest firmware flash (see below). These controllers HP never added support for
Windows past NT 4.0. However HP did originally test this configuration and it
was not reliable. This is why no driver shows up for them. But the drivers for
the NetRAID family are universal and users have used the 1Si/3Si drivers below
with success. THere are just a few limitations they we think are the reasons
they are not supported in 2000. Last are the more modern boards, the HP NETRAID
1M SCSI RAID CONTROLLER 32MB CACHE, 1 channel, SCSI bus: Single-ended or LVD,
the HP D2140-60004 NetRAID 1Si PCI SCSI RAID,32MB , single channel, LVD (Low
Voltage Differential), the HP D5955-80209 NetRaid 3Si 64MB or -60002 16MB, 3
Channel, LVD and the HP D9351A NetRAID 4M Controller Card, 4-Channel, Ultra3 LVD
SCSI, 128MB. Beyond this is the new Ultra320 RAID cards we offer. These are from
the same manufacturer as the HP NetRAID cards were, but are of state-of-the-art
technology instead of the Retired technology of HP. Check them out!
